The IT Team of the UPC Preparatory Committee will launch a new version of its CMS next week, in line with the requirements of the period of Provisional Application of the UPCA ‘and specifically designed for the Court’s sunrise phase’ – the period preceding the UPC opening its doors, during which European patents can be opted out from its jurisdiction.

As of 9 October 2017, ‘all current user accounts of the Beta Test site will be deactivated; users desiring access to the new system are kindly invited to register for a new account at cms.unified-patent-court.org.’ They will get the possibility to perform mock applications for opt-outs as well as to test the Application to be registered as a representative before the UPC.

The new version will remain in test mode until further notice, ‘after which the CMS shall transition to the production environment for the sunrise period’, according to a report of the IT Team. ‘On the start of sunrise period, only user accounts relying on strong authentication will be granted access to the CMS. More details on the new strong authentication method shall be communicated in due course.’
